MSD 1735

2018 Crewel Gobelin SAL - Intermediate Sampler

A German sampler from the Nuremburg area. This sampler is in the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. It contains a number of different stitches; cross, rice and various flame stitch patterns. The MFA has a number of German samplers from the Nuremburg area and they all contain similar blocks of patterns. Some of these samplers have freehand embroidery and metallic thread. The wonderful peacock can be traced back to Sibmacher's pattern book.
