DORCAS HAYNES 1720 - The Scarlet Letter
From
the collection of the Fitzwilliam Museum
Chart only $34.00
Originally stitched on a fine wool ground, the glorious
colours have been matched to the somewhat faded, soft tones visible
on the front. The wide pattern bands reflect popular designs of
the previous century, while the more rectangular shape of the
sampler is an eighteenth century characteristic.
Stitches used are cross, double running, counted satin, queen,
detached buttonhole, closed herringbone, double diagonal back
stitch, eyelet, Parisian, Florentine, bullion knots and tent.
Worked on 35 count linen, the finished size would be approximately
12½ x 17. Recommended for advanced needleworkers
