At the age of nine in 1818, sarah Dutnel created this unusual 'tree of life' sampler in England. A traditional carnation and tulip border in subtle, earthy shades of gold, brown and cream surrounds the tree. Dogs, deer, birds, stars and potted trees and flowers flank its base.

The sampler is unusual in its abscence of alphabets and verse.

The finished sampler will measure approximately 16' x 18 1/2" on 35 count linen.

Stitches used are cross and counted satin.

The sampler is recommended for any skill level.
