"Several band samplers very similar to this one exist in the collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.

Typical of 17th century samplers, Ann Scutt's lovely and intricate pattern and colour variations demonstrating how innovative one could be with a limited palette and some skill with a needle"

Working on 35 count linen, the finished size will be approximately 7"  x  26"

Stitches used are Montenagrin cross, double running, back, eyelet and tent.

Recommended for more advanced needleworkers.                        Copyright by Marsha Parker, The Scarlet Letter
