This is a small and charming Dutch sampler dated with 1841. The original sampler was stitched on loosely woven linen fabric with cotton (or linen) threads. Small amounts of silk threads were also used.
There are two figures in the top right corner of the sampler. Their clothes resemble uniforms that were worn by orphans of the Civic Orphanage in Amsterdam. In both bottom corners you can see a representation of one of the Three Kings, Casper.
